Lubiri Secondary School was founded by the King of Buganda, Sir Edward Mutesa II in 1956. It was located inside the King’s palace until 1966, when the palace was attacked. It found temporary shelter in another location until 1971 when the new site was bought by the Government of Uganda. It is a public co-educational school, situated in a peri-urban area, about 6kms out of Kampala Capital City of Uganda. It is a day school, with a population of about 4,000 students, and has classes Senior one to six.

Over the years, Lubiri Secondary School has produced many notable alumni who have gone on to make significant contributions in various fields, including politics, education, and business. The school has also been involved in various academic and extracurricular activities, making it an important institution in the Ugandan education system

Governance structure
Lubiri Secondary School liaise a clear governance structure, and the key organs are: the Board of Governors which is supreme body– representing the Ministry of Education and Sports, Parents’ Teachers’ Association Committee, representing Parents’ interests; the Headteacher and Top Management.

Major Activities
Academics: Lubiri Secondary School is an academic giant. Students at both O’ and A’ Level perform very well. The school is one of the prominent and profound schools in the country that normally sends students to University. Our curriculum comprises the teaching of computer studies to a total of about 3000 students. We are strong in the teaching of sciences.
Sports : The school is a sporting power house. Games like; Handball, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Netball, Badminton, and many others are all well entrenched in the school. There are many accolades in the school collection – for local, national and international tournaments.
Other co-curricular All effort is made to ensure that we offer activities a balanced curriculum as guided by the Ministry of Education and Sports through the relevant bodies.. As such there are debating activities, clubs like Writers’ Club which spearheads the production of the school yearly magazine – “The Lubirian”, subject – related projects, like the ones that enhance entrepreneurial skills, and many more.
